The EX1R has a slightly lower profile than the EX3 and has a fixed but fully featured Fuji 14x lens, lcd screen and rear viewfinder, XLR audio inputs, HDSDI, HDMI and component outputs, and can be configured with a shoulder mount, follow focus, and rear zoom control.
Sony XDCAM HD EX1R and EX3 cameras record on SxS media cards for fast downloading into Final Cut Pro editing systems.
The EX3 features a removable Fuji 14x lens, and can be fitted with 1/2" or 2/3" HD lenses with supplied adapters. All support accessories for the EX1R and EX3 are interchangeable.
